Now – it’s real-time, it’s up to the minute and we’ve become such an impatient society that when instances like today’s Twitter outage happen – we’re almost at a loss for function.
But, let’s step back a bit and think of the costs of social vs traditional media. Not only the financial dollar cost, but also the intrinsic costs (time spent, energy expended, etc.)

I think people using social media, or social networking, because it’s a neat and easy-to-use tool. Anyone can operate Facebook, MySpace, or Twitter, and it’s an easy way to keep in touch with friends. Kids like to chat on these websites, young adults like to play games, and older adults like to connect with friends from the past.
