Did you know that 55% of teens said they exceed the speed limit by more than 10 miles per hours? With more than half of teens speeding, it’s no wonder why teens are involved in more car accidents. Unfortunately, teens have the highest percentage of fatal car crashes within the first six months of owning a driver’s license. But why is this? The answer is, distractions.

With cell phones putting teens more at risk, you also have to worry about them grooming while driving, possibly doing drugs, and messing with their radio. One high-school aged boy even made the statement that he thinks texting while driving is “fine,” adding, “I wear sunglasses so the cops don’t see my eyes looking down.” If this is the mentality of a lot of teens, then we sure do have a problem.

Educate your teen today on the dangers of distracted driving. Distracted driving can lead to other issues, such as speeding and tickets. So, with the lack of awareness about the consequences of risk-taking behavior, your teen may be left in the dark. So, do you know where your teen is this Friday night?
