PressNomics: The Economics of WordPress
WordPress has evolved into much more than a blogging platform. Over the years thousands of individuals and businesses have leveraged the open-source code to do everything from publish a family website to serve as the digital home for multi-national enterprise organizations.
It takes some understanding of web technology and programming to run and effectively scale a digital business.
Enter Pressnomics. Formulated by Joshua Strebel, Founder at Page.ly, which provides managed WordPress hosting solutions. PressNomics is the conference that will focus specifically on the Economics of WordPress and how individuals, teams, and organizations are using WordPress to make their financial living.
On November 8-10, 2012 a virtual who’s who of the premium WordPress eco-system will assemble in Chandler, Arizona for the inaugurial conference to talk, network, learn and strategize on how to continue to build and flourish their digital business.
There will be premium theme designers, plugin developers, consultants and everyone in between in attendance…
As Strebel, states,
[dropcap]P[/dropcap]ressNomics aims to bring these companies and professionals together in an atmosphere of learning and collaboration.
It should be noted that PressNomics is not a WordCamp; this is not a WordPress Foundation sponsored event, however looking at the registered invitees and planned speakers there will be a number of core contributors in attendance.
The picturesque venue will be the Crowne Plaza San Marcos golf resort. Starting that Thursday morning at 8am with registration the conference is slated to be jam packed with insightful sessions and group activities that are arranged in such a way that attendees won’t have to pick and choose between tracks, instead attendees will be able to attend every single 30 minute session.

For the first event of this kind, it is admirable to see the number and caliber of sponsors that have come on board. It goes to show that pressnomics is definitely filling a void in the conversations we (the business owners and users) have been wanting to have.
Title sponsorship for the conference is held by New Relic, the all-in-one web application performance tool. While Firehost, Windows Azure, Zendesk, Envato and site5 round out the commercial sponsorships.
We, at HicksNewMedia, along with Techzulu, will serve as the primary media outlets covering the conference. Expect a continual stream of updates and content when the conference kicks off on November 8th.
