Who is More Social? Android or iOS Users? [Infographic]

In a world where social media has become mainstream and a part of just about everyone’s life, mobile devices have made it extremely easy to stay connected more than ever. In the U.S there are basically two operating systems that dominate this field from the mobile standpoint, the Android operating system and the iOS operating system. In the constant debate between systems, the real question here is… Who is more social?

With over 900 million combined activated users, about 500 million of them belonging to Android, there is no question that both of these systems are extremely social. But while android has a wide variety of phones available, the iPhone has only 5. This is what hinders iPhone in activated users due to its low selection of mobile devices.

Facebook is the highest ranked social app within the Android market’s app store. It is followed by Google Plus in 2nd and Instagram in 3rd. On the iOS app store, InstaMessage is first followed by Pinterest in 2nd with Twitter coming in 3rd.

Three of the more popular apps; Instagram, Facebook and Twitter all play a role in the sociability of each system. Instagram reached 5 million downloads in one week on the Android OS while it took one month to reach 5 million on the iPhone, even though iPhone was the only one who offered Instagram to begin with. Facebook has 95 MAU (Monthly Active Users) which is only rated a 3.6 out of 5 by the 68.2 percent of users who return daily for Android. While Facebook on the iPhone has an MAU of 105 which is rated 4.0 by the 57.9 percent of the users who return daily. Out of all 600,000 apps that Android offers, Instagram is rated the 13th best app among its users. Out of the iPhone’s 650,000 selection of apps, Instagram ranked the 30th best app among users.

While Android has more downloads to popular social apps and larger variety of devices, the iPhone combats that with Facebook and Twitter being integrated into the iPhone 5. So the question “Who is More Social?” is one that you will have to decide for yourself. Check out the infographic below presented by Startapp to learn more.
